Youth Job Bank

Mutual Benefit to the Community

East Haddam Youth and Family Services Job Bank provides local youth ages 12–17 (or through their date of high school graduation) with opportunities to gain valuable work experience, build confidence, and develop independence. The program connects young people with residents seeking help with tasks such as lawn mowing, yard work, babysitting, pet walking, snow shoveling, and other household jobs. Through these experiences, youth can earn money while developing responsibility, job skills, and strong work habits that will benefit them in the future.

How does the Youth Job Bank work?

The Youth Job Bank works as a referral service that connects local youth with residents who need help with temporary or part-time jobs.  With parent/guardian permission, any youth may apply to have their name listed in the Job Bank.  Any East Haddam/Moodus resident may call EHYFS or visit www.ehyfs.org to request to hire a youth.  When an available job matches a youth application, EHYFS will notify the youth/parent/guardian that a job has become available.  The youth/parent/guardian contacts the employer directly.

Important Details:

  • EHYFS does not give out the youth’s contact information
  • Most jobs are temporary or part-time
  • Pay, work hours, transportation and any needed equipment must be agreed upon by the employer, the youth and the parent/guardian
