Free Resources for the Community
In partnership with the East Haddam Local Prevention Council, EHYFS offers free prevention-focused trainings, resources, and education open to all community members. Through direct oversight and ongoing support of EHLPC, we work together to build a stronger, healthier, and more informed community.
What is Prevention?
Prevention is about getting ahead of the problem before it starts. In a Youth and Family Services setting, “prevention” refers to using strategies, programs, and policies to stop or reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, primarily in youth.
We do this by reducing risk factors (peer pressure, access, trauma, stigma, etc.) and increasing protective factors (parental monitoring, positive programming, resources, etc.).
About the EHLPC
The East Haddam Local Prevention Council is a community-based coalition of individuals and organizations, who work together to reduce substance misuse (alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs) and promote mental well being, primarily in youth of East Haddam/Moodus.
We believe growing a healthy community takes a collective voice from many parts of the community. We join together to encourage all youth to make positive decisions and healthy choices.
